Okay, so you read my previous article “5 Reasons Why You Should Launch Your Own Travel Blog” and now you’re motivated, pumped-up, and ready to launch your own travel blog. Now what? To help you get started, here’s a few tips on how to successfully create + maintain a travel blog: CURATE A PERSONALIZED BRAND.When creating a blog, it’s important to have a solid, personalized brand that represents you + your mission. What kind of travel blogger are you? Who’s your target audience? What’s your ‘call-to-action’/mission for your target audience? What do you plan on providing? What insight/advice can you provide? How will your brand be different from everyone else’s? It’s crucial to answer these questions before doing anything else. You want your brand to be an accurate representation of yourself, so figure out what that looks like to you. POST MEANINGFUL, HIGH-QUALITY CONTENT.When people click on the blog, the first question that pops into their minds is “How’s this information, experiences, and insights going to help me?’ People don’t want to read useless information; they want to read something that motivates them, makes them laugh, or enlightens them in some shape or form. It’s imperative to write + publish content that’s valuable to your audience. In addition, don’t half-ass your content. Your audience will be able to spot the difference between bullshit and brilliance. Provide brilliance each time. CREATE A SCHEDULE + STICK TO IT.One thing that readers love is consistently. If you’re consistently posting an article twice a week + social media content twice a day, your target audience will think you’re reliable and stick around. However, if you post editorial + social media content sporadically, your audience won’t take you serious and start disappearing. You want to create a loyal following base. According to Social Report and Neil Patel, here’s an example of how many times you should post on your blog and social media platforms:
PROMOTE, PROMOTE, PROMOTE.If you don’t put your work out there, how the hell is anyone going to acknowledge all the hard-work and dedication you’ve put into your platform? You are your biggest supporter, so consistently advertise yourself. Create social media accounts for your blog, join creative group-chats + share your work with them, promote your work on your personal accounts, etc. Make it your priority for people to know your brand’s name + mission. It’s the only way that your blog will become successful. NETWORKING IS THE KEY.Connections can go a long way. If someone loves your brand + everything that represents it, they will support + promote your work. Network with other bloggers and support each other. Join professional + creative group chats (yes, I already said that but this is a CRUCIAL step---find a group chat ASAP!) and tell them about yourself + what you do. Go to networking events and talk about your brand. Similar to the last step, no one will know about your brand if you’re not connecting with others and telling them about it. INVEST IN YOUR BLOG.If you really want to take your platform to the next level, invest. Invest your time + money into establishing a professional platform. Do your research. Take online courses from successful travel bloggers. Read E-books. Dedicate at least one day where you are working on your editorial + social media content, updating your website, adding another feature, etc. The more work you put forth into your platform, the better your outcomes will be. Beat Instagram Algorithm: 30 Travel Hashtags to Utilize for More Views, Engagement and Followers11/30/2018 As travel creatives, we all know how difficult it can be to establish a consistent flow of views, follows and engagements for your platform’s Instagram, especially with its new algorithm. According to Later, Instagram’s main goal is to help you see content from your ‘friends and family’ and with the algorithm, people now see 90% of posts from the family and friends, instead of 50% when it was the chronological feed. Based on this information, it becomes harder for travel bloggers, photographer, and content creators to connect + promote our brand with others when Instagram fill peoples’ pages with people they know. Although the algorithm works against us, there are still ways to beat the system. Specifically to this post, hashtags are a great way to connect + network with others who are interested in travel. If you add travel-related hashtags onto your posts, it’ll automatically increase your views, engagement, website clicks and, most importantly, INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS. Therefore, here’s 30 phenomenal travel hashtags to utilize for your brand’s Instagram: #travel- 351m posts |
